Ulliel suffered a major head trauma and was immediately hospitalized in Grenoble where he died of his injuries.

The second skier involved in the accident suffered no major injuries and investigators said the weather conditions at the time were good.

His family confirmed the death in a press release given to AFP by his agent.

Ulliel won a César – the French equivalent of an Oscar – for best actor in 2017 for It’s only the end of the world in which he starred alongside Marion Cotillard and Léa Seydoux.

He had already won a César in 2004 for the most promising actor after appearing in the First World War drama A Very Long Engagement alongside Audrey Tautou.

Ulliel, who shares a five-year-old son with model-singer Gaëlle Piétri, was also the face of Chanel Bleu de Chanel men’s fragrance and played Yves Saint Laurent in a 2014 biopic.

The Mountain Police Department serving the crash site said it has been conducting five or six rescues a day in recent days as the snow has hardened.

In the neighboring region of Haute-Savoie, a five-year-old girl was killed on Saturday when a skier hit her.

The man was indicted for manslaughter, according to the prosecutor of Haute-Savoie, who cited excessive speed as the probable cause of the accident.

The first trailer for the upcoming Moon Knight TV series was only released on Tuesday, starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke.

The show will debut on the Disney Plus streaming service on March 30.

Ulliel stars as Anton Mogart, also known as Midnight Man, in Marvel’s anticipated show, based on the comic book character created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin in 1975.
