CITEM to host digital sourcing festival for the country’s home, fashion and lifestyle industries – Manila Bulletin

A whole new sourcing experience arrives for the home, fashion and lifestyle sector with the FAME + Market Days which will be launched from October 20 to 22, 2021, organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM ). The event reinvents the thrills of the agency’s flagship show, Manila FAME, through a digital exhibition and a series of lectures. For three days, participants will be treated to a showcase of the country’s dynamic design industry through segments on emerging trends in design, fashion and business, as well as an informative program including information business, industry information and networking opportunities.

Also featured in FAME + Market Days is a perennial crowd favorite in previous editions of Manila FAME, Design Commune. This year’s exhibition is anchored on the theme “Light the way”, inspired by the quintessentially Filipino term “maaliwalas” which means light and airy. These organized spaces reflect our desire for positivity, balance and hope in these difficult times.

The visual feast of various design sensibilities is led by FAME + Creative Director Vince Uy, curated by architect Aya Maceda of New York-based design firm ALAO, Stenie Coyiuto-Tay of Casa Bella and architect Nicole Tan from interior design firm Boon, featuring products designed by Rita Nazareno, Gabby Lichauco, Stanley Ruiz and Rachelle Dagñalan.

“The FAME + Market Days mark the anniversary of the launch of fameplus.com to adapt the facilitation of trade in the digital space,” explained CITEM Executive Director Pauline Suaco-Juan. “We launched FAME +, to serve as a digital sourcing and storytelling platform for the home, fashion and lifestyle industries. To date, FAME + has integrated nearly 300 exhibitors and more than 1,200 buyers. The main countries that visit FAME + are Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong and the United States, ”she added.

Labeled as “the ultimate space for Filipino design”, FAME + houses a comprehensive catalog of 3,286 items for home, furniture, lighting, clothing, footwear, jewelry, art and designer products. lifestyle. The platform’s editorial section, Touchpoint, tells the story of Filipino design excellence as reflected in the materials, techniques, traditions and people who make these export products.

The event brings together local and international buyers in one digital venue to network and organize business-to-business (B2B) meetings with nearly 300 exhibitors, including group participation from DTI Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4-A ( Calabarzon) and Region 11 (Davao Region). The digital booths are available in the Expo section of Hopin, the digital event and streaming platform.

With the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the event aims to contribute to the growth of MSMEs in the fashion and lifestyle sector for the home. Opening of the program are Sec. Ramon M. Lopez, Undersecretary of Trade Promotion Groups Abdulgani Macatoman and Executive Director of CITEM Pauline Suaco-Juan. Day one will feature an exciting roster of speakers from the global fashion industry authority Vogue Business and New York-based trend forecasting agency Fashion Snoops. The main stage will also feature a panel discussion with curators and designers from Design Commune. The day one sessions will also see the launch of Better Normal by Design, a program run by the Design Center of the Philippines.

The second day of the event will feature stories on different aspects of sustainability – from innovating new materials to building sustainable value chains – by entrepreneur and artist Tony Gonzales, founder of Creative Definitions and cotton advocate. Filipino Mike Claparols; and Carlo Delantar, social entrepreneur and founder of Altum Concepts, a design studio focused on the circular economy. Delantar will also host a live question-and-answer session following his keynote on environmental impacts on the future of lifestyle businesses.

The program also features Sunnies Marketing Director Georgina Wilson who will share marketing tips with the social media generation. Seasoned publicist Ginggay Joven-dela Merced, meanwhile, will talk about the importance of brand storytelling. Additionally, attendees can also learn more about optimizing their digital presence through online tools, a conference, and an interactive Q&A by Canva Philippines.

DHL Express, one of the partner sponsors of FAME +, will also give a conference on cross-border trade opportunities for SMEs. At the same time, DHL will host a live question-and-answer session in the sessions area.

Throughout the three days of the event, digital short films (short videos) are also available on demand. Including a fashion film by interior designer and rising Instagram sensation Vianca Soleil, table-setting tips from designer Chichi Tullao, and a selection of videos on Filipino materials and living traditions from the Design Center of the Philippines .
