North American premiere of “Leonardo” at Artpark on August 20

Artpark & ​​Company presents the return of Les Plasticiens Volants from Toulouse, France, for the North American premiere of “Leonardo”. The larger than life show will celebrate one of the greatest inventors of all time: Leonardo da Vinci. Guests will see oversized, helium-filled, hand-painted inflatables depicting Leonardo’s ideas, inventions and visions floating weightlessly above the audience and moving through the sky as the sun sets on the sky. This special performance will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 20. General admission tickets are $20, on sale now at the Artpark Box Office (450 S. Fourth St., Lewiston); and online at ticketmaster.com.

Les Plasticiens Volants return to Artpark after its American premieres of “Big Bang” in 2017 and “Pearl” in 2019.

A press release noted: “In the brilliant mind of Leonardo da Vinci, everything was linked: anatomy, mechanics, tracery designs, studies of bird flight and even the face of his Mona Lisa. His mastery of a wide range of disciplines reminds us of the endless possibilities of human understanding and that our minds and imagination are limitless.

Plasticiens Volants is a 46-year-old institution and a unique street theater artist, featuring giant and original hand-painted inflatable creations that have been seen in over 23 countries by millions of people. The troupe has performed at countless international festivals and at major events such as the Rio and Sochi Olympics.

Artpark is also putting on a Renaissance carnival-style performance before this performance on the terrace of the Mainstage Theatre. The event will include food by Oliver’s, an open bar, auctions, as well as admission to the “Leonardo” show. Proceeds benefit Artpark’s non-profit arts mission and programming. Note to visitors: This performance will take place in the lower Artpark parking lot at the South Fourth Street entrance and the area will be closed to traffic. Guests are encouraged to enter the park through the Portage Road entrance to park in the upper lots. When parking, guests can follow the brick road inside the park to the main lot. Shuttles will also be available. Customers may bring a chair or blanket to use in designated areas.
